Khon Kaen University warmly welcomes the 58th Freshman Class
The atmosphere of the first day of the First Semester of Academic Year 2021 at Khon Kaen University on July 12, 2021 was full of joy. The preparation for the welcoming in fact started a couple of days ago on July 5, when the parents took their son or daughter to the dormitories, which opened for them on July 6-7, so that the freshmen could get ready for the semester. The elder-class sophomores, juniors, or seniors who are responsible for the freshmen, under the New Normal, took strict precautions against the Covid pandemic. Meetings were arranged for the working teams, when they received the University’s policy. Assoc. Prof. Piansak Phakdee, Vice President for Student Development and Nongkhai Campus, was leading those in charge from the Division of Student Development, Division of Security and Student Union for the activities that are to be arranged online. The D-M-H-T-T principles have been emphasized, in which D stands for Social Distancing of 1-2 meters and avoiding crowded places, M stands for Mask Wearing at all time, H for Hand Washing frequently with soap or alcohol gel, T for Testing the body temperature and checking for Covid-19 infection if there is the symptom, and T for Thai Cha Na scanning before entering and exiting a public area, for information in case contact is needed.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University conveyed a welcoming speech to the Freshman Class of the Academic Year 2021. “On behalf of Khon Kaen University, congratulations and welcome the 58th Freshman Class to Khon Kaen University with pleasure. Because of Covid situation, KKU official welcoming ceremony is postponed to an appropriate date later. On this occasion, I would like to send our good wishes and love to all of the new students. We hope you will live here happily, and may you use the length of time of your program, 4, or 5, or 6 years to benefit yourself in learning academically, socially and learning the ways of living as a graduate in the future, when you will work for different parts of the society. Please live here with the presence of mind and be cautious in the ways you lead your life. For instruction during this Covid pandemic, you will have to take classes online. Soon there will be vaccine for all students, hopefully at the end of this month. I hope at least more than 80% of our students will be vaccinated by August or September. After that, classes will resume normally. You will meet your friends and your professors. Again, congratulations and welcome all to Mo Din Daeng.”
