Freshmen Games started – “Kalaphruek Games 2019”

KKU Student Organization is holding the KKU freshmen games of 2019 from August 24 to 31 – with over 7,000 students joining 20 different games

Khon Kaen University’s Student Organization organized the 2019 Freshmen Sports Competition from August 24 thru 31, 2019 at KKU sports arena. Twenty four faculties and colleges send their 7,000 freshmen to complete against one another in 20 kinds of games including racing, crosswords, softball, Sepak Takraw, Thai fencing, tennis, table tennis, bridge, basketball, badminton, petanque, futsal, football, archery, shooting, valleyball, water polo –swimming, board game, hockey and E-Sport.

On August 24, 2019 at 18:00 p.m., the opening ceremony of Kalaphruek Games 2019 was held with Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongwiriyakul M.D., Advisor of Acting KKU President presiding over. Among the VIP guests were Assoc. Prof. Piansak Pakdee, Vice President for Student Development and Nongkhai Campus; Asst. Prof. Dr. Narin Chansri, Assistant to president for Student Development and Nongkhai Campus; Miss Orasa Jullama and Mr. Morakot Subin, Advisors of Student Organization; administrators, personnel, officers from Sports Division and Division of Student Development and Alumni Relation, committee members of Student Organization, Presidents of Student Unions of different faculties, students and athletes.

Mr. Sthaporn Setwankhot, President of Sports and Entertainment Section of Student Organization conveyed the reporting speech briefing about the objectives of the event. “KKU Student Organization sees the importance of Freshmen Games, for this will make freshmen love each other and acquire the spirit of sportsmanship. The event also enhances relationships among students and awareness of the values of sports and exercise for their health as well as enables students to use their time in the right ways.”

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongwiriyakul M.D., Advisor of Acting KKU President said in his opening address, “This freshmen event will bring everyone good experience, love and unity among yourselves. It will also create discipline, voluntary action, sportsmanship, and good mental and physical health.”

After the reporting speech and the opening ceremony, the ceremonial torch was lit as the official sign for the start of “KKU Kalaphruek Games 2019”. The athletes holding the torch to place it at the torch holder at the stadium were: Mr. Rachakan Khwathai, Mr; Chiwanon Srijampa and Miss Channchida Ritthipan. The three are first year students majoring in physical education of Faculty of Education who have marked outstanding records in national and international sports.

Asst. Prof. Jaroonsak Panthawisit was the senior athlete, who also is from Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education. Asst. Prof. Jaroonsak led the sportsmanship oath.

“KKU Kalaphruek Games 2019” is scheduled for the closing ceremony on Saturday August 31, 2019 at the former Degree Conferral Pavilion. For more details please contact Center for Freshmen Sports Coordination, Sports Stadium, 3rd Floor.
