Engineering professor invited as a guest speaker in an international conference

    August 23, 2019 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panakrit Khlangbunkhrong, Deputy Director of Sustainable Infrastructure Research and Development Center and Director of Transportation and Traffic System Center of the Upper Northeast, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University was invited as a guest speaker to give a talk on: “Road Safety Issues & Challenges in Thailand ” at the 12th Atrans Annual Conference on “TRANASPORTATION FOR A BETTER LIFE: SMART MOBILITY FOR NOW AND THEN at Chatrium Riverside Hotel Bangkok. 

    At the conference, Mr. Charoon Tangpaisankit, President of Asia Transportation Research Society, ATRANS, introduced Mr. Satoshi Kamada, Executive Director, The International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences (IATSS) and welcomed the participants to the conference, the opening ceremony of which was presided over by Mr. Akom Toempittayapaisit, Former Minister of Ministry of Transportation.

    The conference was aimed at gathering academics, researchers, policy makers, and people in general from the country and abroad in order to discuss and exchange ideas on the rapid changes of transportation and technologies in the world and to form a network together. Six major sessions were scheduled: 1) Panel Discussion on Smart Mobility for Now and Then, 2) Benefit of Big Data, 3) Road Safety, 4) Transport Innovation Challenge, 5) Public Participation and Engagement, and 6) ATRANS Public Voice on Transportation Related Environmental and Safety for VRU. Three other sessions were also added for ATRANS Young Researchers, with over 30 topics of their articles presented.
