KKU joins 4 big organizations to strengthen Thai educational administrators

KKU ASEAN Teacher Profession Research Institute joins 4 organizations to train educators on October 21-22 

          October 21-22, 2019 – Khon Kaen University by ASEAN Institute for Research and Development of Teacher Profession, Office of Secretary of Teacher’s Council of Thailand, National Institute for School Teacher and Staff Development (NITS), Japan, and Teacher and Teaching Professional Development Institute joined hand in hand to train educators for the year 2019 at ASEAN Teacher Profession Research and Development Institute, Khon Kaen University.

          October 21, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. – Asst. Prof. Piyasak Pakkhothanang, Acting Deputy Director of ASEAN Teacher Profession Research and Development Institute; Dr. Niramon Intaraprasith, an expert in teacher and teaching professional development and administrators of the institute welcomed the trainees and introduced the study trip to Japan. Next, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Intaraprasith, Vice President for Education and Acting Director of ASEAN Institute for Research and Development of Teacher Profession of Khon Kaen University gave the welcoming speecj and introduced the teaching professional training project and gave a special talk on Curriculum Reform Implementation: How to transform Japanese Lesson Study into Schools in Thailand. 

          In the afternoon, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Intaraprasith and the institute’s administrators led the trainee in the study trip to Banbuengniam Buengkhrainunthahon School, Ban Buengniam Sub-district, Khon Kaen. The school principal Waiyakorn Yanachote welcomed the delegate and briefed about the school’s operations using Lesson Study and Open Approach.

          At 14:30 p.m., the Open Class, Lesson Study, and Open Approach were demonstrated at a mathematics classroom of 20 3rd graders of Banbuengniam Buengkhrainunthahon School. The lesson was taught by Teacher Malijan Thitinirandorn, a teacher from this school.

          The next activity was a discussion about the experiences in the practice of Lesson Study and Open Approach by Pol.Cpl. Polthong Pengwongsa, Principal of Khukhampittayasan School; Teacher Choltorn Nonthing, a teacher from Khukhampittayasan School; and Teacher Khamplew Kongkaew, a teacher from Banbuengniam Buengkhrainunthahon School. 

          On October 22, 2019, the activities featured a forum on innovation-based school administration and exchange of experience of administrators who have joined the 2018 teacher profession development project, by Principal Natrudee Jitrangsan, from Sujipuli School in Chachoengsao, Principal Watchara Panphum from Banmaue School in Roi-et, and Principal Permsak Ketkul from Kajornkiatsuksa School in Phuket. 

           The project that was carried out in 2018 was a project that helped strengthening teaching professionals according to the master plan, “Thailand 4.0” and the national education plan for strengthening Thailand human resources to possess the competitive capability. The four organizations see the importance of this and thus set the continued project of 2019 with the aims to promote teaching profession and strengthen school administrators and education supervisors in classroom management and leadership and to promote collaboration and network of teaching profession between Thailand and Japan.

         The project is divided into 4 phases as follows: 

Phase 1 Training at Khon Kaen University by Institute for Research and Development of Teacher Profession on October 21-22, 2019 

Phase 2 Development process at Fukui University and NITS, Japan from October 26, 2019 to November 4, 2019 

Phase 3 Applying of knowledge obtained at the school from November 2019 to February, 2020 

Phase 4 Following up work at National Institute for Development of Teacher Profession in March, 2020

          The first activity was assisted by the over 46 project implementers, administrators from Teacher’s Council of Thailand, administrators from Education Profession and Teacher Development Institutes, administrators from the Research Institute, school administrators, principals and education supervisors who participated in the project.
