Digital University Development and General Affairs Division, Office of President of Khon Kaen University, organize KKU Digital Academy and Workshop to train the first group of supporting staff as KKU digital personnel

On October 24, 2019 at Sirikunakorn Building, Digital University Development and General Affairs Division, Office of President of Khon Kaen University, organize KKU Digital Academy & Workshop. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul (M.D.), Adviser to Acting President, encourage the contestants.       KKU Digital Academy&Workshop is part of KKU Digital Transformation Academy & Contest. It allows supporting staff to submit their creative pieces of work to improve their work process with the help of digitaltechnology. They could also learn from new experience and improve their skills. Totally, there were 99 projects submitted by 84 teams.

Dr. Taweesuk Manomayitthikan

Dr. Taweesuk Manomayitthikan, a contestant from Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast, revealed about the project submission that there were 3 teams from Queen Sirikit Heart Center. The first team was triage station. Normally, it took much time to transfer patients’ information written in the paper to computer system. For more convenience, Digital Hospital was therefore created. The second team was pharmacy division. Patients needed to wait for a long time before they could receive their medicine, so digital TV in front to pharmacy division could save their waiting time. The TV screen would show estimated time of each queue, so patients could manage their own time before their queue was called. It was found that patients had been satisfied with this system. The third one was chatbot providing information about medicine to patients. Originally, pharmacists needed to take much time to clarify how to use each kind of medicine and what its effect was. With this chatbot, patients could access information about their medicine through mobile application by taking a photo of their medicine and submit to the app. The chatbot also prepared to answer frequently asked questions, and the answers were precisely provided in detail by pharmacists. The contestants were informed that the Academy also provided help from mentors who were digital technology experts. That was a good idea because these experts could give some advice and make each project more efficient.

On October 24, 2019, there were talks for all 84 teams of contestants. The talk on Teamwork was given by Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong Soodphakdee, Vice President for Digital University Development; principles of media production and presentation by Mr. Tanya Pakdee, Director of Communication Affairs Division; Digital Tools by Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong Soodphakdee and Asst. Prof. Anucha Somabut, Director of Learning and Teaching Innovation Center. Asst. Prof. Pipat Reungsang, Assistant to the President for Digital University Development explained the criteria for evaluation. In the after noon session, mentors gave advise to groups divided into different fields – cloud services, Business Intelligence, web app& Mobile app, IoTs & Computer network, Chatbot.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong Soodphakdee

Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong Soodphakdee said 99projects from 84 teams who were supporting staff were the promising signs of digital university transformation. Although 300 people out of 10,000 seemed to be just a few, all 300 people could ignite the glorious flame of digital university and lead to greater development. Cooperation from related people could lead to development and implementation faster than expected. That wouldn’t be the master piece of administrators only, but also everyone in KKU. That’s because the administrators had planned, but KKU people pushed the plan forward. Another good sign was KKU supporting staff were ready to support the university to become the complete digital university.
