Transformation or FAR 6 – National and International Conference

August 28, 2020 at the theater of Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts – Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University, joining 28 network universities, held the 2020 National and International Conference – “Transformation or FAR 6, which has been continuously held for the sixth year. Due to the situation of Covid-19, this conference was organized with precaution taken on social distancing. The event this year was therefore organized via VDO Conference, using Zoom program and Facebook as well as other online media. The main venue was at the theater of the faculty.

The opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m. was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Niyom Wongpongkham, Ph.D., Vice President for Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy of Khon Kaen University. Asst. Prof. Dr. Burin Plengdeesakul, Dean of Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts gave the background and objectives of the conference. Next, Emeritus Professor Dr. Surapon Wirunlak, a member of the Royal Institute in the field of dramatic arts gave a special talk followed by a forum on “The World Changes, the Arts Changes the World”, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jatuporn Seemuang.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Burin Plengdeesakul, Dean of Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts explained that the conference was held in order to have a venue for presentation of research works, theses, creative works of academics and researchers, lecturers, students, and any individual who were interested. It was expected that the conference would enhance development in the qualities of research and instruction, community services and the country. The conference also created research atmosphere opened up a chance for exchanges of knowledge and experiences. The conference was cooperated by 29 institutions: 1. The objectives were to present research works, theses and creative works of researchers, academics, lecturers, students and interested individuals. The outcomes would be quality development of research and instruction as well as community services and the country.

In the afternoon, there was 4 small-group discussions via Zoom and meeting website: https://far.kku.ac.th – including: Group 1: Design and Visual Art led by Prof. Suchat Thaothong and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nirat Sudsang, Group 2:  Music and Performance led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermsak Pikulsri, Group 3: Culture Leksukhum, led by Prof. Santi Leksukhum and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyom Wongpongkham and Group 4: International Group led by Dr. Dylan Eugene  Southard.

One thing Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts of Khon Kaen University and the network held in common was the development outcome of the conference which would lead to higher qualities of the research work and creative works of the above-mentioned people. The venue also opened up a chance for those involved to exchange ideas and experiences together. The outcomes would be usefulness in local and national development.
