KKU speeds up social assistance during the COVID crisis

Wednesday February 24, 2021 at 13:30 p.m., Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over a meeting to set the implementation steps of the Social Assistance Plans during the Covid Crisis. Attendants included all Vice Presidents and Deans of all faculties. The meeting was arranged online while the President conducted it by means of electronics media at Sarasin Room, 2nd Floor, Sirikunakorn Building, Office of the President of Khon Kaen University.

President Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul discussed the implementation approaches, with the participants, to be taken to assist the society during the COVID crisis. The following 3 projects were set: the 3-month urgent project, the one-year project, and the over-one-year project.

The 3-month-urgent project will cover the emergency matters that have received much and severe impact from the new spread of COVID-19. This business sector consists of entrepreneurs and people in the businesses especially the hotel business. The university is being concerned about the business sector, the entrepreneurs, and Khon Kaen citizens. The 3-month urgent project, as agreed at the meeting will be for all faculties to organize meetings, training, and seminars for the KKU staff as well as for others, or other projects at the hotels in the city. When the event has completed, the faculties shall send the information to the Director of the Office of the President to report to the University Council.

The one-year project is to be conducted with the sub-district under the University to Tambon (U2T) Project of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The university is taking a lot of responsibilities over 135 sub-districts and 200 network organizations, with 16 faculties joining. The project has already started, and the Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise has been assigned to prepare a working team to plan the analysis and synthesis of the lessons learned at the end of the project. This will include the implementation approaches, the design, the methods, the factors behind the success or the factors preventing the success. Each faculty has different plans for the respective communities, but with similar 4 goals required by the Ministry. The implementation may differ from one faculty to another. However, for optimal benefits, the analytical and synthetical plans for the lessons learned should be useful, transferrable and reported to the Ministry. Benefits may arise to the implementation of Phases 2 and 3.

The over-one-year project: Rebound for Quality Growth 2022 – is the continuity of the meeting on February 4, 2021, from specific groups, fields and cross-disciplinary projects. The activities to be done seem to be overlapping. Therefore, it has been decided at this meeting for each group to discuss again in order to transform the topics into a project. If it is necessary to integrate between groups, then the responsible people should coordinate first for clarity before submission to the authority. There should be concrete plan of the faculties included, and the project details must be sent to the Director of the Office of the President for clarified information.
