On July 15, 2025, the Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with Khon Kaen City Municipality, held the academic fair “KKUDS EXPO 2025: Driving Innovation for a Sustainable Future.” The event was presided over by Mr. Prasit Thongtangthai, Mayor of Khon Kaen City Municipality, who delivered the opening remarks. He was joined by Assoc. Prof. Issara Kanjug, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Asst. Prof. Sarawut Jakpeng, Ph.D., Associate Dean for the Demonstration School. The event was attended by students, educators, and academic personnel from across the Northeastern region at the Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University, Secondary Division (Modindang Campus).
The expo served as a platform for knowledge exchange, showcasing student innovations, and promoting academic competitions aimed at inspiring youth to become creative thinkers and innovators. It addressed the growing need to develop future-ready skills that can drive Thai society toward sustainable progress.
In his opening address, Mr. Prasit Thongtangthai emphasized the vital role of education in urban development, stating, “Education is the foundation of a city’s sustainable growth. Today’s event opens new perspectives and sparks inspiration in young people, who are the seeds of future thinkers and creators. These young minds will become the driving force of the creative economy and help transform Khon Kaen into a true Smart City.”
Assoc. Prof. Issara Kanjug, Ph.D., spoke on the future direction of education, remarking, “In a rapidly changing world, innovation is the engine of societal progress. Education must go beyond textbooks to foster creativity and develop essential skills for the future. Khon Kaen University is committed to nurturing students to become thinkers and innovators. I believe that KKUDS EXPO 2025 provides a valuable space to ignite ideas, inspire passion, and develop the potential of Thai youth to become high-quality contributors to the nation’s future.”
Asst. Prof. Sarawut Jakpeng, Ph.D., added that the key purpose of the event was to offer students an opportunity to present their innovations and inventions and to engage in diverse learning experiences. “We believe true learning happens through hands-on practice. We hope this event will significantly contribute to the growth and development of both students and educators, representing another major step in advancing innovation for a sustainable future,” he said.
The event featured a wide range of activities, including interactive workshops, academic and sports competitions, exhibitions of student projects across all subject areas, faculty research showcases, and academic presentations. These activities were designed to promote knowledge sharing among students and teachers from Khon Kaen University Demonstration School, municipal schools under Khon Kaen City Municipality, and network schools across the Northeastern region.
The “KKUDS EXPO 2025” was more than just a showcase of student talent—it reflected the Faculty of Education’s commitment to producing future-ready graduates and nurturing students into innovators. Through the Demonstration School’s role as a model for educational innovation and its dedication to impactful academic services, the faculty continues to serve as a key driver in advancing Thailand’s education system toward sustainable development.
