On 21 August 2025, Khon Kaen University’s Division of Human Resources organized the “First Step for New Supporting Staff Program, Fiscal Year 2025” (KKU SMART Gen 1). The event was presided over by Asst. Prof. Pattarawit Polpinit, Ph.D., Vice President for Human Resources, together with officers from the Human Resources Division and new university staff. The program took place at Meeting Room 2201, ASEAN Institute for Teacher Professional Development and Research.
The initiative was designed to instill organizational values and culture, strengthen attitudes and competencies in line with the university’s expectations, and encourage mutual learning and relationship building among new staff members. These foundations are expected to lead to greater collaboration and integration of work in the future.
In his opening remarks, Asst. Prof. Pattarawit Polpinit, Ph.D. extended a warm welcome, congratulating the new staff on joining the KKU family. He noted that becoming part of an institution with more than 61 years of history represents a meaningful beginning for their professional journey. He emphasized that this year’s launch of KKU SMART Gen 1 is not only a symbolic name but also a reflection of a shared commitment to grow together as members of Khon Kaen University. He further explained that the program was designed to combine vision, learning, and adaptation in the digital era with activities that encourage creativity, strengthen relationships, and deepen understanding of roles and responsibilities. Supporting staff, he stressed, are a vital force behind the university’s success, as no faculty, office, or service unit could operate effectively without their contributions.
Sharing her perspective, Ms. Thanyarat Buchachairat, a new physical therapist at Srinagarind Hospital, said the program helped her connect with colleagues from different units, exchange ideas, and gain practical knowledge on workplace conduct. She also highlighted the value of learning about welfare benefits, career advancement opportunities, financial planning, and work-life balance, noting her determination to apply this knowledge in her work caring for patients both physically and emotionally.
The program was held over 21–22 August 2025 and featured lectures, workshops, and group activities. Participants engaged in sessions on meaningful work and competency development, explored digital mindset and AI, learned about financial planning for young professionals, and discussed strategies for achieving work-life balance. The event concluded with a unifying activity aimed at strengthening bonds and energizing the KKU community.
