Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Science Welcomes Tottori University to Advance International Collaboration

On August 28, 2025, the Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University (KKU) hosted a delegation from Tottori University, Japan, to discuss expanding academic cooperation and strengthening ties between the two institutions.

The Japanese delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Kumi Yasunobu, Vice President for the Promotion of International Exchange, and included Prof. Dr. Kinya Akashi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. They were welcomed by KKU representatives including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pimwadee Pornpongrungrueng, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Sukhum Ruangchai, Assistant Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communications.

During the meeting, Dr. Sukhum presented an overview of the Faculty of Science, detailing its academic programs, curricula, and scholarship opportunities available to both students and faculty.

Discussions focused primarily on establishing student exchange programs. The parties also explored the potential for future collaborations, such as developing dual-degree programs and creating a system for students to register for courses and transfer credits between the universities.

Following the formal discussions, the Tottori University delegation was given a tour of the research laboratories within the Department of Microbiology. The event, held at the Witthayawipas Building, concluded successfully, marking a positive step toward greater international partnership.

 

Following the broader faculty-level meeting, the delegation from Tottori University was given a specialized tour of the laboratories within the Department of Microbiology. From 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, the visitors were guided by Dr. Sukhum Ruangchai, Assistant Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communications, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sopon Boonlue.Upon their arrival at the department, they were formally welcomed by the Head of Microbiology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teerasak Somdee, as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantawan Ritdech and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Viyada Mongkolthanaruk. The group then convened in the department’s ISO meeting room to discuss specific opportunities for academic and research collaboration. The tour and focused discussion concluded the delegation’s visit.
