Khon Kaen, Thailand – The Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts at Khon Kaen University (KKU) recently welcomed H.E. Mark Gooding OBE, the British Ambassador to Thailand, and a delegation from the British Embassy. The visit, which took place on Wednesday, October 1, 2068, at 3:00 PM, was part of celebrations marking 170 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the United Kingdom.
Associate Professor Dr. Burin Plengdeeskul, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, officially greeted the Ambassador and his team at the faculty’s theater. He was joined by Assistant Dean for Administration and Strategy, Assistant Professor Dr. Wichit Winthachai, and Assistant Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communications, Lecturer Dr. Pat Kochapakdee.
The event commenced with a captivating cultural performance by undergraduate students from the Dance and Traditional Music programs. They presented “The Sinsai Pong Lang Ensemble Opening Performance,” showcasing the unique beauty of Isaan folk music, blending melodies and movements to impress the distinguished guests.
Following the performance, an interactive cultural exchange session focused on Isaan traditional arts and music. Lecturer Dr. Arthit Krajangsri from the Music and Performance program, along with other faculty members and students, shared their expertise and demonstrated techniques for playing traditional instruments. Participants were given the opportunity to learn and engage in creating music. This initiative not only promotes the preservation of Isaan culture but also serves as a vital platform for fostering strong ties between the two nations. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie, understanding, and diverse learning experiences, highlighting the faculty’s role as a regional hub for arts and culture and reinforcing cultural cooperation between Thailand and the UK.
