His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great (Rama IX) devoted his life to the Thai people, working tirelessly throughout his reign. He initiated more than 4,000 royal development projects across diverse areas—ranging from drought and flood mitigation (rainmaking, water retention systems), occupational and economic development (the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, the New Theory Agriculture Model), and improvements in quality of life and public infrastructure (Royal Medical Units, the Thai Encyclopaedia, roads, electricity), to environmental conservation (vetiver grass, soil rehabilitation), as well as the promotion of religion and culture. His Majesty’s humble, frugal, and pragmatic approach continues to serve as an enduring model for sustainable living, fostering social harmony and strengthening the unity of the Thai nation to this day.
