KKU Faculty of Agriculture Sharpens Public Speaking Skills: Corporate Communications Office Trains Students as Professional Broadcasters for Isan Agricultural Fair 2026

The Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University (KKU), organised a hands-on training workshop on public speaking and public address (PA) system broadcasting to enhance the confidence and communication skills of student volunteers, preparing them to undertake professional public relations roles at the upcoming Isan Agricultural Fair 2026.

On Thursday, 15 January 2026, from 13:30 to 17:00, the Faculty of Agriculture hosted the workshop titled “Public Speaking and Public Address Broadcasting Skills” for student volunteers. The training was held in Room 8003, 1st Floor, AG 08 Building, Faculty of Agriculture. The objective was to equip students with essential communication skills for their duties during the Isan Agricultural Fair 2026, scheduled from 23 January to 1 February 2026, under the theme “Market-Led, Innovation-Enhanced, Income-Generating, Environmentally Conscious.”

For this training, the KKU Corporate Communications Office assigned Ms Benjamaporn Mamukh, Professional Public Relations Officer, as the expert speaker to share her professional knowledge and practical experience in PA broadcasting. Assistant Professor Thidarat Monkam, Ph.D., Chair of the Public Relations Subcommittee for the Isan Agricultural Fair, presided over the opening ceremony.

Assistant Professor Thidarat Monkam, Ph.D., explained that this training is an annual event open to interested students from all academic years without limit. It aims to build confidence and essential skills for students acting as public address broadcasters—a crucial communication mechanism for engaging with the diverse array of fair attendees.

“Public relations does not only mean speaking through a microphone, but also communicating directly with people. Understanding one’s roles, duties, and proper regulations will help students gain valuable experience that they can leverage in various aspects, including future work and personal development,” stated the Chair of the Public Relations Subcommittee.

The workshop curriculum combined theoretical foundations with practical application, covering the importance of the PA system in a large-scale event, the role of the broadcaster, techniques for tone and pronunciation, how to create engaging programmes, using easily accessible language, and handling unforeseen circumstances such as schedule changes or poor weather. The training emphasised the four core elements of a good PA broadcaster: Clarity, Confidence, Listenability, and Purpose. Students were given the opportunity to practise scriptwriting and vocal reading in preparation for their operational duties.

In her address, Ms. Benjamaporn Mamukh, the expert speaker, noted that the training aimed to enhance communication skills so participants could convey information clearly, comprehensibly, and in a manner appropriate for the context of the Isan Agricultural Fair—a large event attracting various groups of people.

“The public address system remains a critical tool for conveying information, maintaining order, and setting the atmosphere of the event. A ‘good voice’ is not just a loud voice; it is one that communicates effectively and helps ensure the smooth running of the event,” Ms. Benjamaporn commented.

Mr. Panrawut Janthanamsee, a second-year Entomology student and course participant, expressed his satisfaction, stating he was glad to have the opportunity to learn public relations skills for the first time. He found the training atmosphere friendly and helpful in reducing his nervousness. The knowledge gained, he noted, could be applied in many real-life situations, such as public speaking or future job applications and interviews.

This training activity reflects KKU’s role in developing the well-rounded potential of its students, preparing them to be important forces in communicating and driving academic and social activities. This supports the university’s strategy of advancing towards sustainable excellence and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Isan Agricultural Fair 2026 is jointly organised by Khon Kaen University, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Khon Kaen Province. Students who completed the PR training will rotate through public address duties throughout the event to ensure efficient information dissemination, schedule announcements, and service provision, enhancing the experience for all attendees.

The fair will be held from 23 January to 1 February 2026 at the Technology Park for Agriculture, Khon Kaen University.
