Office of Academic Service Khon Kaen University (OAS KKU) has successfully concluded its 14th “Academic Camp,” a strategic workshop designed to fast-track faculty members and researchers toward achieving higher academic titles, ranging from Assistant Professor to full Professor.
Held from January 19-21, 2026, at the Chiangkhan River Mountain Resort in Loei Province, the initiative is part of KKU’s broader strategy to elevate the potential of its personnel and drive the university toward international excellence.
The intensive three-day workshop focused on equipping academic staff with the practical knowledge required to navigate the complex promotion process. The curriculum covered a deep dive into the regulations and criteria set by the Civil Service Commission in Higher Education, addressing both existing and new systems to ensure applicants have a precise understanding of the requirements.
Sessions provided expert guidance on essential skills, including techniques for writing high-quality textbooks, crafting research articles for publication, and preparing for professional teaching assessments.
A key feature of the camp was its participatory structure, which included an “Academic Clinic” for individual consultations. To provide specific, context-relevant advice, participants were divided into three operational groups based on their disciplines:
- Health Sciences
- Science and Technology
- Humanities and Social Sciences
The workshop mobilized a team of distinguished professors and senior experts to lead these clusters. Prominent figures providing mentorship included Prof. Dr. Aran Patanothai and Prof. Dr. Wittaya Ngernthae for the Science and Technology group; Prof. Dr. Surasak Wongratanacheewin for Health Sciences; and Prof. Dr. Dusadee Ayuwat for Humanities and Social Sciences, among other respected scholars.
This project underscores the Academic Service Bureau’s commitment to strengthening the university’s organizational structure. By empowering faculty to reach higher professional standards, KKU aims to enhance the quality of Thai education and research, ensuring sustainable competitiveness on the global stage.
