Khon Kaen University (KKU) continues to strengthen its academic standing on the global stage following the announcement of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, published on the official THE website. In the World University Rankings 2026 by Subject: Business and Economics, Khon Kaen University is ranked in the 601–800 band globally and 3rd in Thailand. The Times Higher Education rankings are assessed using five key performance indicators: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook.

This achievement marks the university’s continued success in meeting global academic standards. The ranking is a result of the combined efforts of several faculties and colleges, including the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy (KKBS), Faculty of Economics (ECON), College of Graduate Study in Management (MBA), International College (KKUIC), Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies (ISKKU) and Agricultural Economics Program, Faculty of Agriculture (AG ECON).

Times Higher Education is a leading global university ranking organization based in the United Kingdom. It has published world university rankings since 2004 and is among the first ranking bodies to incorporate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its assessment framework. The rankings are based on data from academic reputation surveys, institutional submissions, and other relevant public data sources.

In Thailand, only eight universities were ranked in the Business and Economics subject category in the 2026 edition, as follows:

World Rank 501–600              : Mahidol University
World Rank 601–800       : Khon Kaen University
World Rank 801+                     : Chiang Mai University
World Rank 801+                     : King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang

World Rank 801+                     : Thammasat University
World Rank 1001+                   : Kasetsart University
