Modern Pre-Service Teachers Prioritize Well-being: ED KKU Joins Forces with Srinagarind Hospital Medical Team to Enhance Knowledge on “Understanding Sexually Transmitted Infections”

The Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University (ED KKU), is advancing its mission to build social immunity and promote good health for pre-service teachers by organizing an educational campaign on sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Held under the theme “Safe, Open to Talk, and Relevant” on February 19, 2026, at Room 1101, the event featured a team of experts—including doctors, nurses, and staff from the Counseling Center at Srinagarind Hospital. They imparted accurate knowledge and fostered positive attitudes toward sexual health care, which is a crucial life skill in today’s world.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjug, Dean of the Faculty of Education, emphasized the significance of this event during the opening ceremony. He stated that having a proper understanding of sexual well-being is not merely a personal matter; for pre-service teachers, it is a vital “intellectual weapon” to be passed on in future classrooms. Preparing them today will empower these new-generation teachers to create safe spaces in schools and communicate traditionally sensitive topics in an easy-to-understand and academically accurate manner, serving as reliable mentors for the youth.

The atmosphere of the event was filled with creative knowledge exchange. The guest speakers modernized the presentation format to bridge the anxiety gap surrounding sexual health discussions, providing an open space for students to ask questions freely. The activity aimed to raise awareness and prepare students to become role models who are adaptable to changing societal trends and possess strong health literacy.

This initiative not only reflects ED KKU’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals of Good Health and Well-being (SDG3) and Quality Education (SDG4) but also reinforces the Faculty’s dedication to nurturing “Educational Innovators” equipped with comprehensive competencies. By combining academic excellence with essential life skills, they will become a vital force in building a safe and sustainable learning society.
