On 26 March 2026, the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, reaffirmed its commitment to creating social innovations through a landmark collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at the launch ceremony for the i-MOVE (Smart Patient Transport Management System) application. This intelligent patient transport management system is designed to elevate medical services.
The ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University. He was joined by Associate Professor Ratchaphon Suntivarakorn, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and executives from both faculties at the Mittraphap meeting room, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University.
Associate Professor Panthongviriyakul highlighted the project’s significance, describing it as a major step in applying digital technology to enhance patient care efficiency. He noted that the system reduces waiting times and enables precise resource allocation within the hospital, aligning with the university’s Smart University policy, which emphasises ‘Management by Fact’ to optimise services for public benefit.
The research project was led by Professor Kanchana Sethanan, Ph.D., a lecturer in the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, who was the primary driver behind the system’s development. The event featured a demonstration of the i-MOVE application, which is designed to solve the complexities of in-hospital patient transport.
A welcome address was delivered by Associate Professor Pattarapong Makarawate, M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, while Professor Somsak Tiamkao, M.D., Director of Srinagarind Hospital, provided a report on the project’s background and its success, which resulted from the seamless integration of cross-disciplinary knowledge.
The development of the i-MOVE system not only showcases the Faculty of Engineering’s technological and innovative capabilities (Technology & Innovation Focus) but also demonstrates its spirit of ‘Social Devotion’. By applying expertise in industrial engineering and logistics to support medical personnel, the project establishes a new standard for agile and sustainable healthcare services, in line with the Faculty’s vision of being a world-class engineering institution for all.
