The event aimed to raise public awareness and foster a support network for patients with pulmonary hypertension, a chronic disease affecting the heart and lungs.
On 8 May 2026, the Pulmonary Vascular Disease (PVD) Team at the Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast organised an event to mark World Pulmonary Hypertension Day 2026. The initiative was part of a global campaign to increase awareness of pulmonary hypertension (PH), a chronic condition that significantly impacts the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

The event was officially opened by Pongsak Intharaphet, M.D., Deputy Director for Medical Administration at the Queen Sirikit Heart Center. He delivered a welcoming address to a large audience of patients, caregivers, and medical personnel. The day’s programme included a variety of educational activities designed to provide comprehensive information about the disease.

Key sessions included an academic lecture titled, “Understanding PH: Keeping Your Heart and Lungs Strong,” presented by Associate Professor Burapha Pussadhamma, a cardiologist. A panel discussion provided a platform for patients to share their experiences, offering mutual encouragement and practical guidance for maintaining a high quality of life. Furthermore, participants attended a workshop on appropriate exercise for PH patients led by a physiotherapist and received professional advice on medication management from a pharmacist, promoting a holistic approach to continuous healthcare.
The primary objectives of the event were to enhance public understanding of pulmonary hypertension, reduce diagnostic delays, and establish a collaborative network for systematic patient care. To broaden its reach, the entire event was broadcast via Facebook LIVE on the official page of the Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast, ensuring that accurate health information was accessible to a wider public audience.
