Founded in 1964, the Faculty of Engineering of Khon Kaen University is the first engineering faculty to be established outside Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. The Faculty of Engineering has a strong record of achievement. So far the faculty has produced more than 12,000 graduates with Bachelor and Post-graduate degrees. Most of these graduates are now working in and contributing to all sectors of the Thai economy. The Faculty can boast a number of graduates who have assumed top posts in government and industrial organizations. More than eighty-five percent of our graduates find employment within six months after completing their degrees. All our degree programs have been accredited with professional bodies such as the Council of Engineers and other governmental and industrial organizations. This provides our graduates with opportunities and professional memberships. At present, the total number of students stands at 3,661, which is approximately 10 percent of the student body of the entire university.

The staff is the most important factor in our success. There are currently 152 academic staff members and 168 supporting staff members in the faculty. Nearly all of the members of our teaching staff have received their background training from renowned universities overseas. In terms of staff qualification, the Faculty of Engineering of Khon Kaen University is second to none in Thailand. Across every field of engineering, we strive to achieve higher goals in all areas. Our strategic plan contains three main areas of focus - professional education, excellence in research, and community engagement. Using the strategic plan, we aim to raise the standards and quality of our graduates, to increase quality research output by increasing post-graduate students, and to better engage the community, especially the indigenous communities. Through research, teaching and learning, and working with communities, the Faculty continues to achieve and deliver more.
Bachelor of Engineering Program
 - Eight under graduate programs of Faculty of Engineering including Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. These programs are certified by The Council of Engineering, Thailand.

Master of Engineering (Energy Engineering)
 - Master of Engineering course attracts a lot of people who would like to pursue a Master degree.
 - This curriculum is taught in accordance with the current state of the world.

 - The course has been integrated from many fields of Engineering.
Ph.D. of Engineering (Civil Engineering)
 - The course attracts a lot of international students who would like to pursue a Ph.D. in this area.

Ordinary cement, often called Portland cement, is a serious atmospheric pollutant and is a main cause for Global Warming. Thus, the Sustainable Infrastructure Research Development Center (SIRDC) at the Faculty of Engineering at Khon Kaen University has been working on an alternative cement called “Geopolymer” which instead uses a Pozzolan material that consists of silica and alumina. The advantages of Geopolymer are not only the reduction of CO2 emissions and energy during cement manufacture, but also a reduction of agricultural and industrial waste. For instance, bagasse and fly ash can be reused in the cement manufacturing process.
Integrated Environmental Management of the Pong River
The Pong River is the most important river in the Northeastern region of Thailand. The river is the main source for agriculture, fishing, industrial usage, and consumption. Lacking a cooperative plan and proper management, the river is now heavily polluted. The Research Center for Environmental and Hazardous Substance Management (EHSM) at the Faculty of Engineering at KKU has realized the problem and has been leading an inter-disciplinary team to conduct research on the economy, the societies, the environment, and on public participation.  Also, the team has been using a mathematical model to bring about measures to manage and control the usage of the Pong River. Moreover, these measures can be applied to the environmental policy in the future.
Research on Competency for Thai Rice Combine Harvester
The competency of Thai Rice Combine Harvester is the main focal point for the central research topics. These topics include harvesting loss; factors of the harvesting unit, threshing unit and cleaning unit that affects harvesting loss; usability and appropriate calibrations; tools to reduce the vibration of header unit; designs that have an impact on threshing unit loss; and the energy efficiency of threshing machine.
3D Chiral Meta-materials: Negative Refractive Index and Chirality Control
3D chiral meta-materials are artificial or man-made electromagnetic materials, which can be effectively designed to control electromagnetic waves and light behaviors, for instance, polarization, refractive index, diffraction, interference and losses in electromagnetic transmission. These advantages found in chiral meta-materials elevate propagation flexibility, which will open new possibilities in electromagnetic and optical devices such as perfect lenses and invisible objects.
