On May 28, 2025, the Khon Kaen University Student Union organized a training workshop for student volunteers in preparation for the 2025 freshmen orientation. The opening ceremony was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pensri Charoenwanich, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Affairs, who also delivered motivational remarks to the participants.
The event welcomed 388 attendees, including students, faculty members, administrative staff from the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations, speakers from KKU Primary Health Care Unit 123 and Srinagarind Hospital, as well as the university’s security unit and project organizers. The training was held at Room AG7011, Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University.
The workshop reflects the university’s commitment to ensuring a positive first impression and smooth transition for incoming students. By equipping student volunteers with essential skills and fostering a spirit of social responsibility, KKU aims to create a welcoming and well-organized environment rooted in solidarity and empathy.
“Developing volunteer spirit is key to building a strong organizational culture,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pensri Charoenwanich.
“This training not only prepares student leaders for orientation activities but also cultivates a sense of social responsibility and systemic problem-solving. These volunteers will serve as ambassadors of KKU’s values and culture to the new generation. With good planning and problem-solving skills, they can help create a meaningful and inspiring orientation experience for everyone involved.”
The program focused on two core skill areas:
- Social Awareness (70% of content), and
- Critical Thinking & Problem Solving (30%).
Hands-on training sessions included basic first aid, traffic and crowd management for large-scale events, and scenario-based group exercises designed to help volunteers address potential challenges during the orientation week.
The initiative is part of KKU’s broader mission to empower student leaders, foster inclusion, and build a socially responsible campus community ready to adapt and respond to real-world challenges.
