The Office of the University Library, in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University, invites students, faculty, staff, and the general public to visit the special exhibition “Isan Folk Music: Art Legacy”, taking place from June 16 to July 24, 2025, at the Information Center Hall, KKU Library.
The exhibition was officially opened on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Associate Professor Dr. Supachai Seenawatsai, Director of the University Library, presiding over the opening ceremony.
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supachai stated:
“This exhibition aims to raise awareness and promote the preservation of Isan traditional arts and culture. As a ‘Learning Center for All,’ the KKU Library is committed to collecting, analyzing, synthesizing, and disseminating knowledge of Isan art, culture, and wisdom to ensure the legacy of this invaluable heritage continues to inspire younger generations and the broader public.”
The exhibition provides a unique “Phygital Learning Experience”, blending physical and digital formats. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore traditional Isan musical instruments—many rare and difficult to find—through a physical display, alongside demonstrations and performances that place the instruments in their cultural and ceremonial contexts. A digital exhibition complements the physical space, allowing visitors to freely engage with interactive and multimedia content, offering an in-depth appreciation of the beauty and cultural significance of Isan folk music.
This Phygital exhibition supports the KKU Library’s mission as a Center of Social Wisdom, promoting cultural heritage through open, creative, and educational initiatives. The exhibition aspires to inspire students, young people, and the wider community to join in preserving and passing on the unique artistic and cultural traditions of Isan for generations to come.
