The Phetchabun Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), in collaboration with Khon Kaen University (KKU) and experts from various sectors, hosted a major public forum titled “Disaster Management in the Climate Crisis Era in Phetchabun Province” on Thursday, June 13, 2025, at the Phetchabun PAO Auditorium. The event served as a proactive initiative to prepare for and address the growing impacts of climate change.
The forum was officially opened by Mr. Suebpong Nimpoolsawas, Deputy Governor of Phetchabun Province, with Mr. Narongsak Hommalai, Deputy Chief Executive of the Phetchabun PAO, delivering the opening address and outlining the purpose and significance of the initiative. Experts from Khon Kaen University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supasit Khonngai, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs at the Academic Service Center and faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering, joined with specialists from various fields to share academic knowledge and practical experience. The event welcomed representatives from all 127 local administrative organizations across Phetchabun Province, who actively engaged in discussions and information-sharing with the shared goal of building long-term disaster resilience for the region.
This event was part of the “2025 Fiscal Year Disaster Preparedness Training Program,” aimed at creating a centralized platform for exchanging knowledge, experiences, and strategies for disaster risk reduction in the context of a changing climate. A key focus of the event was the application of expert knowledge and innovations from Khon Kaen University to promote awareness and strengthen the capacity of public agencies, private organizations, and local citizens. The initiative reflects a strategic commitment to enhancing community readiness and response effectiveness in the face of natural disasters.
In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the program contributes directly to Goal 11 on sustainable cities and communities, Goal 13 on climate action, and Goal 17 on strengthening partnerships for sustainable development.
