Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast Hosts “CPR Seeds for Society” Basic Life Support Training with Certification

On July 3–4, 2025, the Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, organized a public training course titled “Basic Life Support (BLS) 2025” at the Noppadon Thongsophit Room, 3rd Floor, Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University.

This project was initiated in recognition of the importance of basic life support skills as essential knowledge for the general public. Equipping individuals with CPR techniques can significantly improve survival rates in cases of accidents or unexpected emergencies—especially in an era where cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading causes of death among Thais.

The CPR Committee of the Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast, which served as the training faculty, emphasized, “This community-based CPR training is a crucial step in extending life saving knowledge across all sectors of society. We believe that resuscitation skills should not be limited to medical professionals – everyone should have this knowledge, as emergencies can happen anywhere, anytime. When more people are equipped with CPR skills, the chance of saving lives increases significantly.”

The target participants of the program included people from all walks of life: parents, caregivers for the elderly and patients, students, school and university staff, public facility personnel, security officers, shopping mall staff, restaurant employees, teachers and sports coaches, fitness center personnel, rescue volunteers, public transportation drivers, and staff at airports, ports, and train stations. All participants who completed the course received official certificates of completion from the Queen Sirikit Heart Center, verifying their ability to perform basic life support. These certificates can serve as a professional qualification or skill enhancement in lifesaving.

This intensive course provided hands-on training in CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), with close supervision by expert coaches from the QSHC CPR team. Participants practiced using high-standard mannequins and learned real-life resuscitation techniques applicable in emergency situations.
