On July 29, 2025, the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Automation Robotics and Intelligent System Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with the Department of Skill Development, Ministry of Labour, launched the “Pilot Project on National Skill Standard Testing for the Occupation in Automation and Robotics: Mobile Robot Developer”. This initiative marks a significant milestone in driving Thailand’s robotics industry forward and paves the way for establishing a national-level robotics testing center.
Assoc. Prof. Ratchaphon Suntivarakorn, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, presided over the opening ceremony and stated:
“It is truly an honor that the Department of Skill Development recognizes the Faculty’s potential as a national skill standard testing center. The establishment of this robotics testing center serves as a vital mechanism to promote Thailand’s robotics industry toward becoming a regional leader, reinforcing credibility for developers and entrepreneurs, and meeting industrial demands for robots with the highest standards of safety and efficiency. This collaboration not only strengthens the country’s technology-based economy sustainably but also enhances the reputation of the Faculty of Engineering as a leading academic institution equipped with advanced knowledge and highly qualified personnel.”
Assoc. Prof. Thana Radpukdee, Chairperson of the Program Administrative Committee, further explained that the project aims to respond to the growing demand for standardized, safe, and high-performing robots in the industrial sector.
“The establishment of an in-country testing center will significantly reduce costs and time associated with sending robots abroad for certification. It will also accelerate the development of robotics technology to meet international standards and enhance global competitiveness. Furthermore, this initiative reinforces the reputation of the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, as a hub for robotics innovation.”
