On August 4, 2025, the Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University (KKU) held a press conference to announce the upcoming “National Science and Technology Fair and Regional National Science Week 2025 (NST FAIR 2025 x KKU Science Week 2025).” The event, scheduled for August 18–20, 2025, will be held under the theme “SCIENCE IN ACTION! FOR SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES.” The press conference was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, and attended by executives from the National Science Museum (NSM), KKU administrators, and the leadership team of the Faculty of Science.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai emphasized that Khon Kaen University places great importance on promoting scientific, technological, and innovative knowledge among youth and the general public, especially in the Northeast region where the university plays a key role in advancing sustainable development through research, academic services, and lifelong learning initiatives. This year’s event will take place across three major venues: the Faculty of Science, the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall, and the Museum and Lifelong Learning Center of Khon Kaen University. The fair is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Science Society of Thailand Under the Patronage of His Majesty the King, the National Science Museum, and numerous internal and external partners. The goal is to create an engaging learning environment that showcases Thailand’s scientific potential to students and the public.
Dr. Kannikar Chen, Vice President of the National Science Museum, Thailand, revealed that this year NSM will bring special exhibitions to the Northeast, highlighting the integration of science and culture. Among the highlights is “The Rocket Maker: Isan Inspiration,” an exhibition that presents space technology through the lens of the traditional Isan rocket festival, and “Sports Science on the Move,” which offers participants opportunities to test physical performance and learn about scientific approaches to exercise. In addition to these exhibits, the event will feature interactive activities such as the Science Spark exhibition, a cybersecurity forum, and the SiT Talks competition, all aimed at sparking youth interest in science.
Prof. Thidarut Boonmars, D.V.M., Ph.D., Vice President for Enterprise and Societal Sustainability at KKU, noted that several internal and external agencies will present exhibitions at the KKU Natural History Museum and Science Museum. These include drone flight training, medical learning activities, and CPR demonstrations using training mannequins, which will be available to students at a nominal fee of 10 Baht. Teachers can participate free of charge with advance reservations. The event will also provide educational guidance activities, enabling students from across the Northeast to explore academic programs through engaging and hands-on experiences.
Asst. Prof. Angkana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science, explained that the science week will include a variety of competitions and knowledge-based challenges. These will involve science quizzes, problem-solving in science and mathematics, imaginative drawing contests, project and teaching media competitions, and Science Shows. Exhibitions will also be presented by all 10 academic disciplines within the Faculty of Science, along with contributions from other KKU units and partner organizations. The aim is to create an inspiring learning space that fosters scientific skills, systematic thinking, and effective communication among youth.
Khon Kaen University invites students, teachers, and the general public to join the NST FAIR 2025 x KKU Science Week 2025, which will take place from August 18–20, 2025, at the Faculty of Science, the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall, and the Museum and Lifelong Learning Center of Khon Kaen University.
