Khon Kaen University Showcases AI Innovations in Push to Become ‘University of the Future’

KHON KAEN – Khon Kaen University’s Learning and Teaching Innovation Center (LTIC) hosted “Innotech Show & Share 2025” on Friday, August 22, 2025, providing a platform for faculty and staff to present their latest innovations in digital technology and artificial intelligence. The event underscores the university’s strategic goal of transforming into a “University of the Future.”

The exhibition, held at the Wittayawipas Building on the Faculty of Science campus, was officially opened by the university’s president, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D. The full-day program was designed to foster knowledge exchange and showcase the practical application of AI in both academic and administrative work.

The morning session featured a keynote lecture titled “Work Smarter with GenAI: From Idea to Output… Easy, Fast, and Accurate” by Kulachet Lekprayura, Director of the Learning Development Office at Bangkok University. Following the lecture, participants presented their projects in a series of pitching sessions, demonstrating how AI can enhance efficiency and create new solutions.

In the afternoon, Asst. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee, Ph.D., KKU’s Vice President for Education and Digital, outlined the university’s official Generative AI policy and presented the “KKU Intelsphere” initiative, a strategic plan to establish the university as an intelligent organization. University executives, led by the president, later toured the exhibition booths to engage directly with the innovators.

The event culminated in an awards ceremony recognizing the most outstanding projects. A panel of seven distinguished judges from both within and outside the university evaluated the entries.

The awards were presented in three categories:

  1. Generative AI Pitching (Academic Staff)

   Winner: Asst. Prof. Dr. Natanapa Heebkaew Patchasuwan (Faculty of Public Health) for “Enhancing Game-Based Learning with Generative AI: The Health Promotion Bingo Innovation.”

   First Runner-up: Dr. Benyapa Srisawangwong and Mr. Jirawat Srisawangwong (Institute of General Education) for a system that uses AI to summarize lessons and create audio for review.

   Second Runner-up: Asst. Prof. Dr. Somphet Chulabuddee (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences) for “MediaX,” an AI-driven digital media creation tool.

  1. Generative AI Pitching (Support Staff)

   Winner: A team from the Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast for developing an animated cartoon to reduce patient anxiety before cardiac catheterization.

   First Runner-up: Ms. Arisa Jirathachanont (Central Administration Division) for “AI Scheduler,” an intelligent task management assistant.

   Second Runner-up: Ms. Jutharat Khamwan and Mr. Pasphan Jinotha (Central Administration Division) for “DocWise AI Plus+,” a comprehensive intelligent document system.

  1. Poster Exhibition (Digital-Era Teaching and Work Methods)

   Winner: Mr. Kittiphan Sornsak and Ms. Patcharaporn Jiranuwattanawong (Office of Digital Technology) for “KKU IntelSphere: A Comprehensive AI Platform for Learning, Research, and Work.”

   First Runner-up: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wimontip Singthuen (Faculty of Technology) for “GeoLab+,” a virtual mineral and rock laboratory with a LINE Chatbot assistant for geology students.

   Second Runner-up: Dr. Pitchaya Wiratchotisatian (Faculty of Science) for “STATGenie,” a chatbot for intelligent services.
