Khon Kaen University’s Science and Academic Week Draws Over 7,500 Attendees

KHON KAEN – The Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies at Khon Kaen University hosted its 8th Regional National Science Week and 20th Academic Week on August 19, 2025, attracting a large crowd of more than 7,500 students and members of the public.

The event was officially opened by Associate Professor Dr. Wullapa Wongsinlatam, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies. In her opening remarks, Dr. Wullapa emphasized the faculty’s commitment to academic activities that raise awareness and build skills in science, which she described as a crucial foundation for national development. “We hope this event provides knowledge and enjoyment, inspiring attendees to pursue further education and create innovations for society,” she stated.

According to Assistant Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supachai Sompech, the event, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, aimed to disseminate knowledge, research, and innovation to young people and the general public. Under the theme “Science in action for Sustainable Community,” the week featured exhibitions of research and innovations aligned with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic model and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The academic program included over 15 online and on-site competitions, which saw participation from 771 teams, totaling 4,665 competitors and supervisors. In collaboration with the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), the event also offered workshops and hands-on activities designed to enhance practical skills among youth.

In addition to the scientific activities, the faculty hosted a “ROAD TO ISKKU 2025” session to provide guidance on university admissions and to promote the various academic programs offered by the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies.

The event was a collaborative effort, receiving support from public and private partners including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phairat Usubharatana of Thammasat University, Nongkhai Chadathong Limited Partnership, Bualinn Resort Nongkhai, Huadee Tutor, S. Thavee, and Draft Service.
