Khon Kaen University Participates in ‘Rapee Day’ Ceremony Honoring Father of Thai Law

KHON KAEN – Representatives from Khon Kaen University’s Legal Affairs Division joined a wreath-laying ceremony on August 7, 2025, to commemorate “Rapee Day” and pay homage to Prince Rapee Pattanasak, Krommaluang Ratchaburi Direkrit.

The ceremony was held at the prince’s monument in front of the Khon Kaen Kwaeng Court building. Officials from various public and private sector organizations across the province gathered to honor the man revered as the “Father of Thai Law.” The event included the laying of wreaths, the delivery of a royal eulogy, and a moment of silence to reflect on his significant contributions.

“Rapee Day” is observed annually on August 7, marking the anniversary of the prince’s death. He is recognized as a pivotal jurist who laid the groundwork for Thailand’s modern legal system. His major achievements include establishing the Court of Justice, systematizing the judicial process, and founding the nation’s first law school, all of which are considered foundational to the country’s current rule of law.

Khon Kaen University’s participation in the event served to express its deep respect and gratitude for the prince’s enduring legacy in the Thai legal field.
