KKU Faculty of Education Recognized as ‘Model Institution’ by Hometown Teacher Project

KKU’s Faculty of Education Honored as “Model Institution” at National Forum

The Faculty of Education at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has been recognized as a “Model Institution” for its role in the “Kru Rak(s) Tin” (Hometown Teacher) project, a national initiative aimed at reducing educational inequality. The honor was bestowed during a national academic forum held in Bangkok from August 27-28, 2025.

A delegation from the faculty, led by Professor Dr. Sumalee Chaijaroen, advisor to the Dean, and Associate Professor Dr. Jarunee Samat, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, attended the forum titled “From Practice to Policy Proposals: Measures for Teacher Production and Development to Create Opportunity and Reduce Educational Disparity.” The event was organized by the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) at the Rama Gardens Hotel.

During the event, Dr. Jarunee accepted the honorary certificate on behalf of the faculty. The award recognizes the institution’s success in producing and developing teachers prepared to work in remote areas, fulfilling a key objective of the Equitable Education Fund Act.

The forum served as a crucial platform for sharing insights and lessons learned from Thailand’s major teacher development programs, including the Hometown Teacher project, the “Phet Nai Tom” (Diamond in the Mud) project, and the program for developing teachers with special talents in science and mathematics. The collective goal was to shape policy recommendations for a more equitable and sustainable teacher production system. Workshops were also held to review the progress of the Hometown Teacher project and plan for its next phase.

This recognition affirms the KKU Faculty of Education’s position as a leading institution in educational innovation. It also aligns with its core mission to produce high-quality teachers equipped with future-ready skills, who can contribute significantly to society and advance Thai education equitably.
