Khon Kaen University and Chanthaburi College of Dramatic Arts Partner to Advance Music and Performance Education

KHON KAEN – The Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has formalized a partnership with the Chanthaburi College of Dramatic Arts, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance curriculum development and academic collaboration in music and the performing arts.

The signing ceremony took place on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Isan Film Archive within KKU’s Art & Culture Center. The agreement was signed by Associate Professor Dr. Burin Plengdeesakul, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, and Mrs. Pornusa Kaewsawang, Director of the Chanthaburi College of Dramatic Arts. Associate Professor Dr. Niyom Wongpongkham, KKU’s Vice President for Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, welcomed the visiting delegation and served as a witness to the agreement.   

Following the ceremony, the administrators and students from the Chanthaburi college toured the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts’ theater to observe its teaching methods and artistic activities, fostering a direct exchange of perspectives and experiences.

The primary objective of the MOU is to promote and develop academic programs, research, and cultural exchange in music and performance. The partnership aims to preserve cultural heritage, embrace diversity, and support lifelong learning principles.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on several key initiatives, including:

  • Supporting the development of academic and professional music programs by sharing expertise, skills, and resources.
  • Organizing joint academic conferences, projects, and activities to enhance the capabilities of artists, teachers, and students.
  • Facilitating personnel exchanges to build skills in music and performance, as well as to advance teaching and research methodologies.
  • Developing curricula in music and performance that are responsive to evolving social, economic, and cultural contexts, meeting the needs of both students and the community.

This partnership marks a significant step in building a robust academic and cultural network. It is expected to elevate the quality of education and creative work in the performing arts, while also playing a crucial role in preserving Thai cultural heritage and paving the way for future international collaborations.
