The Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University held a seminar on September 6, 2025, to present its operational plan for the 2026 fiscal year. The event, held at the Avani Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre, brought together administrators, faculty, and staff to brainstorm and align the faculty’s future direction.
The seminar was presided over by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Asst. Prof. Dr. Angkana Boonyued. In her address, she emphasized the faculty’s vision: “A leading faculty that creates knowledge, innovation, and high-quality science personnel for national development.”
To measure progress toward this vision, the Dean outlined five key indicators: performance in global rankings such as the QS World Ranking and Times Higher Education Ranking, subject-specific rankings, the number of Q1 publications in the Scopus database, innovations that address national development needs, and the number of students who win national and international awards.
Dr. Angkana also reviewed the faculty’s three core missions: producing graduates, which includes providing lifelong education; conducting research and developing innovations with practical applications; and delivering academic services to strengthen the community and society. She highlighted the organization’s core values, encapsulated by the acronym “SMART”: Social Devotion, Management by Fact, Adaptability to Global Perspective, Research and Innovation, and Teamwork.
During the seminar, participants were divided into four working groups to develop strategies for key areas:
- Education and Academic Services: Focused on developing curricula that meet labor market demands and providing academic services that create a positive community impact.
- Research and Innovation: Brainstormed ways to produce world-class research and develop innovations to meet industrial sector needs.
- Student Development and Alumni Relations: Concentrated on equipping students with 21st-century skills and building a strong alumni network.
- Organizational Management: Discussed improving administrative efficiency and fostering a supportive environment for work and learning.
The event was designed to ensure that personnel at all levels could contribute to shaping the faculty’s direction, fostering a shared understanding and collective drive to achieve its strategic goals.
