The presentation highlighted Vietnam’s profound transformation after 40 years of its “Doi Moi” policy, focusing on major domestic reforms designed to create a more transparent and accessible economy.

The reforms are twofold. First is a major administrative overhaul, demonstrated by the streamlining of local government from 63 provinces down to 34 to improve efficiency. Second, and more central, is the economic modernization driven by Resolution 68, which elevates the private sector to a primary engine of the national economy. This policy aims to create a more transparent and accessible business environment by shifting the government’s role from a controller to a facilitator. Ambitious targets are set, including growing the private sector’s contribution to over 60% of GDP by 2045.

These internal changes are directly marketed as benefits for Thai businesses, promising faster procedures, cheaper logistics, and a clear legal framework. The presentation concludes by highlighting the synergistic partnership where Vietnam’s young workforce and large consumer market complement Thailand’s global experience and strong networks. This collaboration is envisioned to build powerful value chains in sectors like green agriculture, logistics, and renewable energy. The overarching message is one of mutual benefit, with the cooperation powerfully described as a “bridge of shared prosperity.”

We look forward to more collaborations that strengthen the ties between Thailand and Vietnam.
