The Art and Culture Center of Khon Kaen University invites members of the university community and the people of Khon Kaen to join in preserving local arts and culture through the “Tad Krathong Bok” activity. Building on the overwhelming success of the recent “Paint Lanterns” event, which received enthusiastic responses from both within and outside the university, the Center continues to encourage active participation in cultural creation and community collaboration.
Earlier, the Center organized the “Paint Lanterns” workshop under the concept “Water, Fish, and Naga”, which received enthusiastic responses from faculties, departments, students, and the public. Participants came together to express creativity through color and design, reflecting the beauty of contemporary art inspired by Isan beliefs, faith, and unity. Every lantern painted will be displayed along the Cultural Street beside Si Than Lake, adding a warm and radiant atmosphere to the upcoming international festival in November.
The “Tad Krathong Bok” activity remains open for volunteers to join in assembling the traditional Krathong Bok—a cultural handicraft that embodies the faith, beliefs, and wisdom of Isan people. The activity is held on weekdays (Monday–Friday) from 09.00–12.00 hrs. and 13.00–16.00 hrs. at Khumsithan, Art and Culture Center, Khon Kaen University. To provide more opportunities for participation, the volunteer period has been extended until October 25, 2025. The activity welcomes participants of all ages, and all volunteers will receive official service hour certification. For further details, please contact Ms. Anussara Khamngam (Aoy) at Tel. 099-167-4664.
The lanterns and Krathong Bok creations made through collective effort will be used to decorate the grand international cultural event, “SITHAN Festival 2025,” under the concept “Sithan Navathara Himalayan.” This year’s festival will celebrate the rich beauty of Isan culture, symbolically connecting the flow of faith from the Himalayan Mountains to the Mekong River. The event will feature a variety of highlights, including the Boon Somma Parade, Naga Worship Ceremony, contemporary cultural performances, creative contests, photo check-in points, local markets, and traditional fairground attractions—all gathered in one lively and inclusive space. The SITHAN Festival 2025 will take place from November 3–5, 2025, at Si Than Lake, Khon Kaen University.
