On 31 October 2568, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Huso), Khon Kaen University, through its Language Centre, collaborated with the Master of Arts Programme in Thai to host the orientation for students participating in the “Short Course Instructional Management Project for Master’s Students from Yunnan Normal University, China.”

Associate Professor Orathai Piayura, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty, graciously presided over the opening ceremony. Assistant Professor Benyathip Supakalin, Ph.D., Acting Director of the Language Centre, delivered the project report, while Assistant Professor Thinawat Sroikudrua, Ph.D., Chair of the Master of Arts Programme in Thai, offered a welcome address and introduced the course faculty members. Over 20 administrators and faculty members attended the event, which took place in the Smart Classroom (4-A1) on the 4th Floor of the Rattanapittaya Building, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University.

Associate Professor Orathai Piayura expressed confidence that this programme is not merely a language skills training session but an essential “foundation for further enhancement”—whether in communication, translation, literary interpretation, or advanced research. She emphasised that it is an excellent opportunity for the students to broaden their horizons and gain a deeper understanding of Thai society and culture. The Dean concluded by offering encouragement, urging every student to utilise this opportunity to learn, develop, and maximise the benefits of the knowledge gained for their future studies, careers, and daily lives in Thai society. She also extended her gratitude to the faculty and staff who warmly organised the event.
This project is a collaboration between the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, and the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, Yunnan Normal University, China. It aims to strengthen mutual understanding and academic cooperation between the two institutions, marking a crucial step in promoting bilateral academic relations. The primary goal is to exchange knowledge on Thai–Chinese language and culture and to develop the capabilities of postgraduate students to effectively apply the Thai language in academic, communicative, and research contexts.

Furthermore, managing this short course provides a platform for Chinese students to learn from real-life experience by studying and living in the Khon Kaen University environment. This setting fosters academic engagement and close cultural exchange, which will lead to better mutual understanding, strong relations, and long-term academic cooperation between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China.
