KKU Faculty of Nursing Day Care Organises Loy Krathong 2025: Children and Parents Join Creatively to Preserve Thai Traditions

On Wednesday, 5 November 2025, the Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by its Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Development, successfully hosted the “Loy Krathong Day Activity 2025.” The event took place at the Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Development, fostering a warm atmosphere filled with smiles from the participating children, parents, and academic staff.

This activity was organised to instil in the children an appreciation for and deep understanding of beautiful Thai traditions, while also enhancing their social and imaginative skills through play and crafting. The event featured numerous activities, including a moment of gratitude expressed to the Goddess of Water (Phra Mae Khongkha), traditional games, floating simulated krathongs, and a communal meal enjoyed in a joyous setting. Children and parents alike were dressed in vibrant traditional Thai attire, reflecting the strong collaboration between families and the institution in beautifully preserving Thai culture.

Ms. Walaya Saenmee, parent of “Nong Wakrin,” stated, “I would like to thank the Centre for organising this Loy Krathong activity, which allows the children to learn about and maintain Thai traditions. The event created both fun and smiles for the children, gave them the opportunity to make new friends, and allowed parents to participate. This truly helps to build warmth and stronger relationships within the family.”

The Loy Krathong activity not only helped early childhood learners understand a significant national tradition but also promoted comprehensive development—covering physical, emotional, social, and intellectual domains. This aligns with the integrated learning approach of the Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Development, which focuses on enabling children to learn from direct experiences through engaging and safe activities. The success of the event was achieved through close cooperation between parents and the personnel of the Faculty of Nursing.
