The 36th Annual Scientific Conference of the South East Asia Association for Dental Education (SEAADE 2025) was successfully held in Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan), from 7 to 9 November 2025. The conference drew over 350 participants from countries across the Southeast Asian region and beyond, who gathered to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaborative networks in dental education.

This year heralded a distinct honour and source of pride for Thailand, as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitipat from the Khon Kaen University (KKU) Faculty of Dentistry was appointed President of SEAADE 2025. Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teekayu Plangkoon Jorns served as the association’s Secretariat. Together, both distinguished academics successfully steered and facilitated the exemplary running of the conference.
The KKU Faculty of Dentistry also led a strong team of lecturers and students to attend the proceedings. The delegation was headed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ajiravudh Subarnbhesaj, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Khon Kaen University, accompanied by Asst. Prof. Dr. Patimaporn Pungchanchaikul, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemporn Kitsahawong, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pipop Suttiprapaporn. They were joined by four research groups comprising 6th-year dental students, all of whom presented research findings in Dental Education focusing on the topics of Prosthodontics, Occlusion, and Orofacial Pain.


KKU Students Win International Award for Research Presentation
The conference brought further recognition to KKU as its students achieved an international award. The undergraduate research team, comprising Dental Students Wachirada Thangam, Anatee Malem, and Prancheewa Srisuchart, were awarded Third Prize in the Undergraduate Student Poster Presentation Award category for their research presentation titled: “Self-Directed Learning in Digital Smile Design: Student Performance and Satisfaction among Final-Year Dental Students.” The project was supervised by Instructor Preeyarat Plongniras and Asst. Prof. Dr. Supawich Morkmued.
Throughout the conference, attendees engaged in knowledge exchange across various fields, including Dental Education, Digital Dentistry, Artificial Intelligence, and Geriatric Dentistry. Crucially, the event fostered collaboration and friendship among dental institutions throughout the Asian region. SEAADE 2025 concluded successfully, marked by profound impressions and lasting camaraderie among professional colleagues from numerous nations, as preparations now begin for the gathering at SEAADE 2026.
