10 November 2025 at 14:00 hrs. – The Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University (KKU), welcomed a delegation from the Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Qinghai University (QHU), People’s Republic of China, to discuss academic collaboration.
The KKU welcoming party was led by Assistant Professor Angkana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science; Mr. Sukhum Rueangchai, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communications, and Associate Professor Sopon Boonlue, Ph.D., lecturer in the Department of Microbiology. Professor Parmesh Bhantarn, Ph.D., a lecturer in the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, also kindly joined the reception.
The QHU delegation included Professor Dr. Wang Zhanlin, Vice Dean; Professor Dr. Sun Xuemei, Researcher; Associate Professor Dr. Wang Lihui, Assistant Researcher; and Dr. Wei Xiaoqiang, Postdoctoral Researcher. The purpose of their visit was to tour Khon Kaen University and discuss academic cooperation regarding exchanges and joint research. The meeting was held at Witthayawipas Room 2, 2nd Floor, Witthayawipas Building, Faculty of Science.

This meeting marked the first official discussion of academic cooperation between QHU and the KKU Faculty of Science. The relationship was initiated when Associate Professor Sopon Boonyuen, Ph.D., had previously visited QHU to discuss collaborative research on Jerusalem artichoke. This successful initial contact serves as an excellent starting point for developing academic cooperation with the Faculty of Science and potentially expanding interactions to other relevant academic units within Khon Kaen University, such as the Faculty of Agriculture, to further joint research in the future.

Starting at 15:30 hrs., Associate Professor Sopon Boonyuen, Ph.D., along with Associate Professor Parmesh Bhantarn, Ph.D., led the QHU delegation on a tour of the Scientific Instrument Laboratory. This tour was intended to inform their consideration for future joint research activities and student exchange programmes.
This high-level meeting represents the first step in establishing an excellent relationship with QHU, which is expected to lead to the formal expansion of cooperation across research, and the exchange of students, staff, and researchers. Such collaboration will provide opportunities for both institutions to create quality research outputs and skilled human resources for the global community in the future.
