25 November 2025 – The Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University (KKU), and the Nam Phong Sub-district Municipality organised an official ceremony for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic cooperation at Nam Phong Purinphat Municipal School.
The objective of this collaboration is to jointly drive and enhance the quality of education at Nam Phong Purinphat Municipal School by applying educational innovations and curricula derived from the Khon Kaen University Demonstration School. This initiative aims to develop students and teachers, enabling them to keep pace with the swift changes of the contemporary world.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Mr. Khakkanet Kongcharoensuk, Mayor of Nam Phong Sub-district Municipality. Associate Professor Issara Kanjak, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, attended the event along with university administrators. Mr. Thepnakorn Namwong, Director of Nam Phong Purinphat Municipal School, delivered the opening report. Witnesses to the signing included Assistant Professor Sirisak Laochankham, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Local Administration, Khon Kaen University.
In his address, Mr. Khakkanet Kongcharoensuk emphasised that education is vital for reform, particularly educational management that encourages creative thinking and learning skills among students. He noted that the “Demonstration School Innovation” curriculum, developed under the guidance and management of the KKU Faculty of Education, would significantly boost the capabilities of both students and teachers. This collaboration represents a crucial opportunity for the children of Nam Phong to access high-quality education comparable to schools in urban centres.
Mr. Thepnakorn Namwong, Director of Nam Phong Purinphat Municipal School, highlighted the importance of learning mechanisms that promote skills, fully utilise potential, respect student differences, and keep abreast of the information age. He stressed that these advancements require expertise from the KKU Faculty of Education.
In response, Associate Professor Issara Kanjak reaffirmed the Faculty’s mission to create “models” in teacher production and the use of educational innovation, equipping the education sector to handle technological and social shifts. He stated that the Faculty of Education is fully prepared to play a part in enhancing and establishing high-quality education for local children throughout the collaboration period, building upon the success experienced through the educational development model previously implemented in Sila Town Municipality.
The ceremony also welcomed Mr. Pairat Thaweewan, Mayor of Sila Town Municipality, in his capacity as a consultant and coordinator for the education model. Mayor Thaweewan shared his experiences as a successful model area, citing the success of incorporating the KKU Demonstration School curriculum in Sila Town Municipality. This integration led to a substantial increase in student numbers, surging from 50–60 to over 230 in just over a year. He highlighted that this partnership brings “Demonstration Standards” to the local area, allowing residents access to fee-free, high-quality education while reducing travel costs to city schools. This initiative also establishes a model municipal school for education that can serve as a pilot for other communities.
This partnership is thus of great significance in developing curricula and instructional management that accounts for student heterogeneity, ensuring learners achieve their full potential and create long-term social value, especially by promoting equality in access to high-quality education. Driving local educational quality through this collaboration underscores the commitment of the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, to applying knowledge and innovation to tangibly strengthen the nation’s education sector. This aligns with the Faculty’s focus on being a leader in educational innovation for sustainable development and developing the Demonstration School as an innovation prototype for teacher professional development, thereby contributing to the Sustainable Development Goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
