KKU Technology Researcher Sends ‘SimpleSense Purée Soup’ Readily Accessible, Nutrient-Rich Food to Aid Hatyai Flood Victims

26 November 2025 – Assistant Professor Pimpanipa Hiranras, Ph.D., Head of the Food Technology Programme, Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University (KKU), delivered 150 sachets of SimpleSense Purée Soup to the Division of Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialization.

This ready-to-eat purée soup is the result of research conducted by the Food Technology Programme and has been certified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The sachets were provided as emergency food supplies to be distributed to flood victims, particularly hospitalised patients in the affected areas. This delivery follows previous successful donations aimed at supporting victims in Chiang Mai province and front-line soldiers stationed at the Thai-Cambodian border via the 23rd Military Circle.

Assistant Professor Hiranras stated that she was deeply honored that this research project could contribute to helping those facing the current crisis.

“SimpleSense Purée Soup is a smooth, thick soup that can be consumed immediately upon opening the packet. It is highly suitable for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, patients, and those requiring physical recovery, as it provides a balanced diet encompassing the five major food groups,” she explained.

The product was developed using germinated Khao Hang (parboiled) Rice, specifically the RD43 variety—a rice known for its low glycaemic index—combined with various high-energy cereals. This makes it an ideal nutritional supplement for vulnerable groups during crises.

The KKU Division of Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialization has currently opened an appeal for donations of essential items and non-perishable foods for survival kits, including rice, instant noodles, canned food, milk, snacks, and common medicines. Donations can be deposited at the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations, Khon Kaen University.

Financial contributions are also being accepted via the Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) account: “Rauam Namjai KKU Chuay Nam Tuam” (KKU Joins Hands to Aid Flood Victims), Account No.: 402-734360-3.

Donated items will be delivered swiftly via air transport provided by AirAsia, with the final destination being Prince of Songkla University, Hatyai Campus. Khon Kaen University will continue to accept donations until Tuesday, 2 December 2025, to ensure prompt delivery to the affected area.
