Faculty of Science, KKU, Hosts Delegation from The University of Danang, Vietnam, to Discuss Academic Collaboration

On 25 November 2025, at 13:30 hrs, the executives of the Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University (KKU), extended a warm welcome to a delegation from the Republic of Socialist Vietnam.

The KKU welcoming party included Associate Professor Khatcharin Siriwong, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Administration; Associate Professor Pimwadee Pornpongrungrueng, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; Associate Professor Somnuk Worawiset, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations; Associate Professor Wutthichai Srisodapol, Assistant Dean for Administration; and Associate Professor Sujeeporn Athibai, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Education and Academic Service.

The visiting delegation was from the University of Science and Education (UED), The University of Danang (UD), and was led by Associate Professor Nguyen Quy Tuan, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry, and Associate Professor Trinh Dang Mau, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Agriculture, and Environmental Science.

Following the welcome, Associate Professor Sujeeporn Athibai, Ph.D., and Assistant Professor Phoonsuk Poosimma, Ph.D., Head of the Chemistry Discipline, led the delegation on a tour of the Faculty of Science’s facilities, including the Chemistry Discipline’s research laboratories and the Scientific Instrument Centre.

The meeting originated from Associate Professor Sujeeporn Athibai, Ph.D.’s recent visit to an international institution where she engaged in discussions and exchanged ideas on biological research with Associate Professor Trinh Dang Mau, Ph.D. Notably, Associate Professor Mau is an alumnus of the Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University, having graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biology a decade ago.

At 15:00 hrs, Professor Supreedee Pinichsoontorn, Ph.D., Head of the Physics Discipline, together with faculty members, received the visiting delegation at the Physics Discipline meeting room. They engaged in discussions regarding academic collaboration in areas of mutual research interest and explored avenues for student exchange programmes within the curricula of both institutions.

Subsequently, on 26 November 2025, from 09:00 hrs to 11:00 hrs, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University, at Meeting Room 4 in Building AG08. The hosting party was led by Associate Professor Darunee Jothityangkoon, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Associate Professor Panuphol Hongbade, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Research, Innovation, and International Relations; and Assistant Professor Sawitree Wongtangthinhan, Associate Dean for Strategic Planning and Quality Development, alongside other dedicated faculty members.

The meeting focused on discussing opportunities for academic collaboration in the field of agriculture. Following the discussion, Associate Professor Panuphol Hongbade, Ph.D., also escorted the delegates to the Flower Fields within the KKU Agricultural Technology Park to observe the Smart Agriculture system and toured the laying hen breeding facility to demonstrate the egg production process on the farm.

This meeting and discussion on cooperation mark an excellent starting point for extending and developing academic collaboration with the Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University, and for expanding cooperation with other relevant academic units within the university, such as the Faculty of Agriculture. These initiatives are expected to lead to formal agreements for joint research, mutual student exchange, and internships, thereby enhancing research quality across various disciplines and advancing the university’s international profile.
