Khon Kaen, Thailand – On Friday, 5 December 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU), through the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, organised the annual event, “Music in the Park: H.M. Songs, MHESI Plays the Father’s Music” (ดนตรีในสวน : H.M.Song อว. บรรเลงเพลงของพ่อ 2568). The programme was held to commemorate the royal benevolence and honour the remarkable legacy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, on the occasion of the anniversary of his Royal Birthday.

Professor Pewpan Maleewong, Vice President for Research and Innovation, presided over the opening ceremony. The event was well-attended by KKU administrators, staff, students, and members of the public at the Agricultural Technology Park, adjacent to the Chaturamuk Building at the KKU Agricultural Farm.

This event was initiated in response to the policy set by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), which called upon higher education institutions nationwide to utilise their artistic and musical capabilities. The aim was to jointly stage musical performances across the kingdom on 5 December 2025, in honour of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. The programme allowed everyone to reflect on his Majesty’s profound royal grace through the invaluable Royal Compositions (Phleng Phra Ratcha Niphon), which stand as a precious national heritage.

Professor Pewpan Maleewong, Vice President for Research and Innovation, stated, “The Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation at Khon Kaen University is profoundly honoured to host this special event. It provides an opportunity for all to reflect upon the immense royal grace of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. His Majesty was an indispensable monarch who rendered incomparable service to the nation and the Thai people. By organising ‘Music in the Park: H.M. Songs, MHESI Plays the Father’s Music,’ we express our loyalty, and we commit to adopting and following his Majesty’s royal aspirations as a guideline for our lives and work for the betterment of society.”

“The central feature of this event is the performance of the Royal Compositions by the KKU Band, serving both as an expression of loyalty and a profound tribute. The band beautifully renders His Majesty’s compositions, which are deeply rooted in jazz and blues, amidst the lush, green surroundings of the Agricultural Technology Park. We believe that listening to these pleasant melodies in the beautiful, verdant atmosphere of the Agricultural Park will create a lasting impression and deeply move all participants,” Professor Pewpan added.
