Thai Research Team Earns International Recognition for Anti-Cancer Herbal Capsule Innovation at SIIF 2025

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chantana Boonyarat, a lecturer in the Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University, presented the groundbreaking research “Clausena harmandiana Root Bark Capsules – Anti-Cancer” as a co-inventor at the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF) 2025.
The event was held at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from December 3–6, 2025, and was supported by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).

The research project earned the Excellent Invention 2025 Award, marking a significant achievement for Thailand’s scientific and pharmaceutical research community and showcasing the global potential of Thai-developed medical innovations.

The research team was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornthip Waiwut, in collaboration with researchers from Ubon Ratchathani University. The study included both pre-clinical and clinical investigations conducted jointly with Professor Yoshihiro Hayakawa from the Institute of Natural Medicine, University of Toyama, Japan. This collaboration highlights the strong international partnerships that advance herbal-based medical research.

SIIF 2025 is recognized as one of the world’s leading international invention exhibitions and competitions. The event brings together inventors, researchers, universities, startups, and industries from numerous countries to showcase innovations, demonstrate technological advancements, and foster collaborations across academic and commercial sectors.
