Khon Kaen University (KKU) has entered into a partnership with Power Green Solution Co., Ltd. to enhance electric vehicle (EV) battery technology and promote clean energy in Thailand. A memorandum of understanding was signed on Friday, December 12, 2028, between the university’s Next-generation Battery and Energy Factory and the private company.
The signing ceremony, held at the Faculty of Science, was co-hosted by the university’s Enterprise and Sustainable Society division. The agreement was signed by Professor Dr. Thidarat Boonmars, KKU’s Vice President for Enterprise and Sustainable Society, and Mr. Pravat Chindahara, Managing Director of Power Green Solution.

Assistant Professor Dr. Angkana Boonyued, Dean of the Faculty of Science, praised the collaboration, stating that it reflects the university’s key mission to translate research into practical applications and connect academic potential with industrial needs. “This partnership marks a significant starting point for advancing the country’s EV battery and clean energy technology, making it stronger and more robust,” she said.

Professor Dr. Nonglak Meethong, Director of the Next-generation Battery and Energy Factory, highlighted the significance of the partnership. She noted that Power Green Solution’s confidence in using the university’s automotive-standard batteries in several of its electric motorcycle models is a major step forward. “This demonstrates a bright future for our battery and new energy curriculum,” she said. “Students can be confident that there is a job market waiting for graduates with this expertise.”

Mr. Apilak Hemmala, Deputy Managing Director of Power Green Solution, stated that the battery industry requires continuous development and nationwide service coverage. He explained that his company is actively encouraging the public to switch from gasoline-powered motorcycles to electric ones as part of the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy. “Testing the batteries from Khon Kaen University has yielded very positive results,” he said, adding that the collaboration elevates technology development between the academic and private sectors.

The partnership also underscores the value of the university’s specialized academic programs. Songsak Kenkhamkul, a third-year physics student in the Battery Science and New Energy program, shared his enthusiasm. “I was excited when I first saw the program advertised because it sounded so new and interesting,” he said. “Now in my third year, I feel more confident because I’ve had both classroom and hands-on experience, including site visits that have given me new perspectives on this field.”
He added proudly, “New and clean energy addresses the current global issue of warming, and this is the first bachelor’s degree program of its kind in Thailand. I’m thrilled to be at the forefront of this in our country.”
This collaboration between Khon Kaen University and Power Green Solution represents a strategic step in strengthening Thailand’s clean energy ecosystem, while simultaneously creating high-quality human capital for the future EV and battery industry.
