Khon Kaen University Demonstration School Athletes Ready for ‘Ongkharak Games’

Over 900 KKU Demonstration School Athletes Receive Words of Wisdom Before Competing in the 48th Samakkhi Demonstration School Games 

Khon Kaen University (KKU) held a ceremony to provide guidance and encouragement to the managing committee and athletes of the KKU Demonstration School before their participation in the 48th Samakkhi Demonstration School Games, or ‘Ongkharak Games’. The President of KKU, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, and other administrators joined the event, emphasising the value of sportsmanship, discipline, and unity.

The Faculty of Education and the Khon Kaen University Demonstration School organised the official ceremony to deliver words of wisdom to the managing committee and the athletes on Saturday, 13 December 2025, at the Saisuree Jutikul Meeting Room, Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University. The event aimed to boost morale and ensure physical and mental readiness for all participating athletes and related personnel.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., KKU President, presided over the ceremony and offered his counsel. He expressed immense pride in the KKU Demonstration School athletes who were selected to represent the university at this national competition. He stressed that sports are a crucial mechanism for developing the potential of youth in terms of physical health, mental resilience, discipline, and teamwork. Khon Kaen University is committed to continuously supporting sports activities and urged every athlete to adhere to the rules, maintain excellent sportsmanship, learn to accept defeat, celebrate victory gracefully, and forgive mistakes, while simultaneously fostering positive friendships between institutions.

Associate Professor Issara Kanjak, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education, remarked that the Samakkhi Demonstration School Games serve as a practical learning platform that shapes the identity of students from demonstration schools across the country. He noted that representing the school and Khon Kaen University is both an honour and a responsibility. He encouraged all athletes to perform to the best of their abilities, maintain the positive image of the institution, and use the experience gained to further their self-development and benefit the university.

Assistant Professor Sarawut Jakrpeng, Ph.D., Associate Dean for the Demonstration School and Acting Director of the Khon Kaen University Demonstration School, emphasised the role of sports in enhancing desirable attributes among youth, including responsibility, discipline, and social integration. He offered his best wishes to the athletes, coaches, and the managing committee for a smooth and safe execution of their mission.

The activity also received strong support from the parents’ association and alumni network of the Khon Kaen University Demonstration School. Representatives from the Parents and Teachers Association, the alumni association, and various clubs offered their guidance and committed financial support. They collectively stressed that true success lies in self-improvement, demonstrating sportsmanship, and taking pride in their effort, rather than merely securing victories.

The 48th Samakkhi Demonstration School Games, or ‘Ongkharak Games,’ will be held between 18–24 December 2025 at the Srinakharinwirot University Demonstration School, Ongkharak, Nakhon Nayok Province, which is hosting this year’s event. Twenty-seven demonstration schools affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation are participating.

The Khon Kaen University Demonstration School is sending athletes to compete in 18 sports categories, including athletics, golf, softball, Sepak Takraw, tennis, table tennis, basketball, badminton, pétanque, futsal, football, volleyball, swimming, board games (Mak Kradan), hockey, handball, 3×3 basketball, and e-sports.

This delegation comprises 781 athletes, team managers, and coaches, alongside 171 members of the various operations committees, totalling 952 individuals. Mr. Ekarat Thamklang serves as the Head of the Athlete Delegation.

This mission represents a crucial opportunity for the Khon Kaen University Demonstration School to bring honour and pride to Khon Kaen University on the national stage.
