KKU Architecture Students Secure Two Bronze Awards at AYDA Awards 2025

Students from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University (KKU), have brought honour to the university by winning awards at the AYDA Awards 2025 competition. Two KKU submissions were selected as finalists in the Architectural Category (out of six finalists overall) and secured a Bronze Award, alongside the A5 Best Design Award.

The two student representatives who advanced to the Finalist round were Mr. Attaporn Netrkun Chorn, a fourth-year student, for his project entitled HIEROPHANY, and Mr. Pannawat Thongmul, a third-year student, for his project entitled PIA Craft Yard: Converging the Rice Weaves Legacies. Both students received the Bronze Award, accompanied by a cash prize of 4,000 Baht, and the A5 Best Design Award, which carries a separate cash prize of 5,000 Baht. Each project secured two awards.

Additionally, three other students whose projects made it to the Top 20 bracket received Architectural Qualification certificates: Mr. Phasathorn Kila for In Mine Memories, Mr. Pattanant Supalert for Toreua Torch Withi Haeng Sainam (Building a Boat, Extending the Way of the Waterway), and Mr. Theerawat Phosrikham for Treads of Wisdom: Creating Fabric from the Community’s Way of life.

A special highlight of the event was the experience sharing session led by Mr. Chayanon Chinnawong, a fifth-year student. Mr. Chayanon was the champion of the AYDA Awards 2024 last year and represented Thailand in the international round in Japan. He recently achieved further prominence by receiving an Honorary Mention in the Architectural Category at the Global AYDA Awards 2024/25 in Tokyo. He shared his year-long competition journey with the current participants.

The event took place on 12 December 2025. The advising faculty members who led the students in presenting their work included Associate Professor Noppadol Tangsukul, Ph.D., and Assistant Professor Chanthanee Chirantanat, Ph.D.

This achievement reflects the potential of the students from the KKU Faculty of Architecture, who are emerging as capable new-generation designers committed to creating works that benefit society and culture in the future.
