KKU Welcomes Delegation from University of Tsukuba, Japan, Advancing Global Citizenship Education through the CAMPUS-Asia 6 Programme

On 11 December 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, along with Associate Professor Nawarat Wara-asawapati, D.D.S., D.M.Sc., Vice President for International Affairs, and Assistant Professor Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs, hosted a reception for a delegation from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. The reception also included administrators from the Faculty of Education, led by Associate Professor Issara Kanjak, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education.

The visiting delegation, comprising administrators, academic staff, and students from the University of Tsukuba, was led by Professor Fujita Teruyuki from the Institute of Human Sciences.

The purpose of this visit was to discuss and exchange views on academic collaboration under the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the CAMPUS-Asia 6 (CA6) programme. CA6 is an international educational cooperation project in the Asian region designed to foster students’ development into Global Citizens through cross-cultural learning and academic exchange.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, expressed his delight in welcoming the delegation from the University of Tsukuba. He emphasised the critical importance of advancing international academic cooperation, particularly through the CAMPUS-Asia 6 programme, which serves as a vital platform for promoting cross-cultural learning and developing students’ international skills and characteristics as global citizens. The President also affirmed KKU’s readiness to continuously sustain and expand cooperation with the University of Tsukuba in teaching, research, and the exchange of students and personnel, aiming to elevate educational quality and build a sustainable international academic network.

Furthermore, Professor Fujita Teruyuki, Associate Professor Hirai Yusuke, and Assistant Professor Furuta Yuichi from the Institute of Human Sciences, together with academic staff from KKU’s Faculty of Education, jointly presented the progress of the CAMPUS-Asia 6 project. Discussions covered the implementation of student exchange activities during the 2025–2026 academic year, as well as future development pathways for cooperation in curriculum delivery, research, and prospective double degree programmes.

This visit marks a significant opportunity to continue and elevate the partnership between Khon Kaen University and the University of Tsukuba. It focuses on creating international learning experiences, enabling students to develop global skills, understand multiculturalism, and prepare for sustainable global citizenship in the 21st century.
