The Queen Sirikit Heart Centre of the Northeast, Khon Kaen University (QSHC), represented by the Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery Unit, under the Medical Administration Division, organised a practical workshop on “The Use of Hemostats, Sealants, and Adhesion Prevention Agents in Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass (OPCAB) Surgery.” The workshop was held on 20–21 December 2025, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of medical personnel and transferring advanced technical knowledge in cardiac surgery.

The event was presided over by Assistant Professor Chawalit Wongputta, M.D., and Dr. Bundit Mokkarut, Deputy Directors of the Queen Sirikit Heart Centre. They delivered the opening address and welcomed participants, who included cardiothoracic surgeons, resident physicians, anaesthesiologists, nurses, and other relevant medical staff.
The training followed a blended format, combining theoretical sessions with practical workshops. Participants gained hands-on surgical experience by practising on swine models at the Advanced Clinical Skill Training Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. This practical experience is intended to enhance their skills and enable them to effectively translate the knowledge gained into patient care.

Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass (OPCAB) is a crucial technique for treating patients with cardiovascular disease, as it reduces complications associated with the use of a cardiopulmonary bypass machine. However, this technique requires a high level of expertise, particularly in controlling blood coagulation and preventing post-operative complications.
The organisation of this workshop underscores the Queen Sirikit Heart Centre’s commitment to the continuous development of its staff, aiming to elevate the quality of treatment, enhance patient safety, and sustainably build trust among patients.
