From 15 to 17 December 2025, the Office of Academic Service (OAS), Khon Kaen University (KKU), partnered with Mukdahan Hospital to host a workshop titled, “Clinical Supervision for Professional Nurse Competency Assessment.” The programme aimed to elevate performance capabilities and establish nursing service standards that prioritise ensuring maximum safety for all service users.

The project drew substantial interest from nursing professionals, with over 150 participants from Mukdahan Hospital and five affiliated network hospitals. This high level of participation underscored the local personnel’s dedication to standardising supervision models to reduce inequality and enhance the quality of patient care in the region.

The course was delivered by Assistant Professor Ruttawan Sritrakul, Ph.D., an expert in nursing and educational competency, who guided participants through intensive and modern learning modules. The key highlights effectively integrated theory and technology:
- In-Depth Advanced Supervision Theory: Participants studied the Competency-Based Clinical Supervision model and the methodology for designing supervision plans based on risk-based assessment principles. This approach ensures supervision is accurate and addresses the specific risks unique to each department
- Best Practice Exchange: Participants presented and exchanged nursing practices from critical departments, including the Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Operating Room (OR), and Outpatient Department (OPD).
- Hands-on Practice via Technology (Live Streaming Workshop): Trainees practised their competency as supervisors using a live streaming system, simulating real-time supervision in patient wards. This allowed for the accurate assessment of the skills and competencies of the supervised nurses in realistic scenarios.

The Office of Academic Service, Khon Kaen University, acting as a leader in Lifelong Education, reaffirmed its mission to support and elevate public health personnel. This project successfully achieved its critical goal of developing highly competent professional nurses, ensuring the sustainable safety and enhanced well-being of all service users.
