KKU Computer Engineering Students Sweep National AI Awards, Partnering with Krungthai Bank to Cultivate Future Tech Talents

       KHON KAEN, Thailand – Student representatives from Computer Engineering at Khon Kaen University (KKU) showcased their exceptional capabilities by securing multiple national awards in Artificial Intelligence and intelligent systems. The achievements were highlighted during the official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony for the “Talent Development: Unlocking Potential, Expanding Opportunities” project, a joint initiative between Khon Kaen University and Krungthai Bank Public Company Limited.

      On 14 January 2026, marking the commencement of this strategic partnership, ten outstanding students from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, presented their award-winning innovations. The student delegation included:  Mr. Piyangkun Saraphak  , Ms. Jidapa Hongklang ,Mr. Pisit Srichamnart ,Mr. Phubodin Meehom ,Mr. Chaiwat Thongloetwong ,Mr. Kawin Phakhokthom ,Mr. Natchanon Kitkhram ,Mr. Naphat Phadungkit ,Mr. Phasawi Saribut and Mr. Chatpakorn Khongsrisan

        The students were supported by their distinguished advisors: Professor Wanida Kanarkard, Ph.D., Associate Professor Daranee Hormdee, Ph.D., and Assistant Professor Manasvee Kaenampornpan, Ph.D.

 

The exhibition featured cutting-edge AI and intelligent system projects that have garnered top honours in both national and international arenas. Notable achievements include:

  • First Place: TESA Top Gun Rally 2025 (Embedded Systems Competition)

  • Smart Factory Hackathon 2025 by Sony

  • Health Intelligent AI-EI Hackathon 2025 (Collaborations with leading hospitals)

  • SMART ENERGY SOLUTIONS HACKATHON by EGAT 2024

  • e-Waste HACK BKK 2024 and IoT Smart Natural Rubber 2024

  • TBL Disruptive Thinking 2024 and E-SAN Thailand Coding & AI Academy 2024

The presentation underscores the quality of KKU’s Computer Engineering graduates, demonstrating that they possess not only theoretical mastery but also the practical skills required to excel in high-stakes professional environments.

The “Talent Development” MOU aims to bridge the gap between academia and the financial technology sector through internships, skill-building programmes, and career preparation. By showcasing these tangible successes on the day of the signing, the University reaffirmed its readiness to provide high-calibre “human capital” to the business sector, aligning with Krungthai Bank’s vision of developing the workforce of the future.

The Faculty of Engineering takes immense pride in its students for utilizing this platform to prove that the fusion of deep engineering knowledge with creative problem-solving can address modern global challenges.
