Khon Kaen University Executive Team Visits Nano-Materials Research and Innovation Institute to Drive Strategic Research Towards Commercialisation

13 January 2025 – Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University (KKU), accompanied by Professor Pewpan Maleewong, M.D., Vice President for Research and Innovation, and a delegation from the Division of Research Administration, visited the Nano-Materials Research and Innovation Institute (NM-RII) within the Faculty of Science.

They were welcomed by Assistant Professor Angkana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Supree Pinitsoontorn, Ph.D., Director of NM-RII, along with the executive committee, lecturers, researcher representatives, and staff of the Institute. The visit aimed to exchange views on operational guidelines and the development of the Institute’s research work.

The objective of the visit was to communicate the University’s direction regarding research and innovation to ensure that the research centres and institutes align their operational frameworks with the University’s strategic plan. A key focus was scaling up research outcomes for commercial and social benefit, thereby strengthening KKU’s high-quality international research and innovation ecosystem.

This exchange meeting fostered mutual understanding regarding driving research that creates positive social impact, particularly in nano-materials technology, which holds significant potential for developing renewable energy and green technology. The visit also underscored the University’s commitment to supporting NM-RII in developing its capacity to create innovations that meet the demands of both industry and the community.

The work undertaken by the Nano-Materials Research and Innovation Institute aligns closely with the Faculty of Science’s mission to produce high-quality international research and innovations crucial for national development. Furthermore, the NM-RII plays a significant role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals related to clean energy and fostering innovation for sustainable infrastructure, contributing to technological advancement and long-term economic development in the country.
